Who Thinks of the Passion Keeps Jesus Company. Instead, Who Lives in the Divine Volition Finds in Act the Creation and the Passion and Makes His What is of God.

Finding myself in my usual state, in my interior I felt my sweet Jesus moving in an act of extending Himself in me, as if He had gone into agony. I heard his agonizing wheezing, and I also felt myself agonizing with Him. And so, after having suffered a little together, Jesus said to me: "My daughter, thinking about my Passion, feeling compassion for Me in my pains, is most pleasing to Me. I no longer feel alone in my pains; I feel the company of the creature, the cause of my suffering and whom I love so much; and, having it together with Me, my suffering is alleviated.

"How harsh is isolation in suffering! When I see Myself alone without anyone to confide my pains to, nor anyone to whom I can give the fruit my pains contain, I remain as suffocated by pains and by love; and my Love is not able to go on. Therefore, I come to you to suffer in you; and you suffer together with Me the pains of my Passion which are always in act, in order to repeat what I did and suffered in my Humanity.

"Repeating in the creature my Passion as in act differs from one who only thinks of and feels compassion for my pains. The former is an act of my Life, which is placed in my stead to repeat my pains; and I feel the effects and the value of the Divine Life given back to Me; on the other hand, in thinking of my pains and feeling compassion for Me, it is only the company of the creature that I feel. But do you know in whom I can repeat my pains or the act of my Passion? In whoever has my Will as centre of life.

"My Will alone is the Act that has no succession of acts. This single Act is fixed at a point which is never displaced, and this point is Eternity. And while It is a single Act, It is prime act, interminable act; Its circumference is so immense that no one can flee from It; It encircles every­thing and everyone with a single embrace - everything parting from that prime Act, as a single Act. Thus, the Creation, the Redemption and the Sanctification are a single Act for the Divinity. Because my Will is a single Act, it has the power of making all acts Its own, as if they were one act alone.
    
"Now, whoever lives in my Will possesses this single Act; and it is not to be marvelled that it takes part in the pains of my Passion which are always in act.

"In this single Act there is found in act its Creator, who creates Creation; and the soul, forming a single Act with its God, creates together, flowing as a single Act in all created things, and forms the glory of Creation for its Cre­ator. Its love shines over all created things, enjoys and takes pleasure in them; it loves them as things of its own and the things of its God. In that single Act, it has a note that makes an echo in all the Divine Operation, and it says in its ecstasy of love: 'What is Yours is mine and what is mine is Yours. Glory, honour and love be to my Creator!'

"In this single Act is found in act the Redemption; It makes it all its own. It suffers my pains as if they were its own; it flows in all that I did, in my prayers, in my works, in my words, in everything; and it has a note of reparation, of compassion, of love and of substitution in my Life.

"In this single Act is found everything; It makes everything its own, and it puts its exchange of love every­where. Therefore, to live in my Will is the prodigy of prodigies. It is the enchantment of God and of all Heaven to see the littleness of the creature flowing in all the things of its Creator, while, as a solar ray bound to this single Act, it diffuses itself everywhere and in everyone.

"Therefore, I recommend to you that, even at the cost of your life, you never go out of this single Act of my Will, so that It repeat in you as in act the Creation, the Redemption and the Sanctification.

"See, even nature contains things that closely resemble this single Act. In the atmosphere, the Sun has a single Act; and because it was created by God it always does a single Act. Its light and its heat are so united together that they are rendered inseparable and, from its height, it is always in the act of sending light and heat. While it seems to do nothing other than a single Act, the circumference of this light descends below and it is so immense, it embraces all the earth; and, with its breadth, it produces innumerable effects and constitutes itself light and glory of all created things ... In virtue of this single Act, it encloses in itself each plant and to some it administers development, to others the ripening of their fruits, to some sweetness, and to others perfume. It can be said that all the earth begs its life from the Sun and that each plant, even the smallest blade of grass, implores from the Sun its growth and each fruit it produces. But the Sun never changes actions; it is glorified in always doing a single Act.

''Also, human nature contains something that closely resembles a single Act; it has the palpitation of the heart. Human living begins with the heartbeat. This always does a single Act; it does not know how to do anything other than palpitate. But the virtue of this palpitation and its effects are innumerable in human life. As it palpitates, and at each palpitation, it makes the blood circulate in the members, even in the extreme parts; and, palpitating, it gives strength to the feet to walk, the hands to work, the mouth to speak, the mind to think; it administers heat and strength to the whole person. All depends on the palpitation. This is so true, if the palpitation is slowed a little, the person loses energy and the desire to work; the intelligence is deadened, full of sorrow; a vague feeling of bodily discomfort is felt; and, if the heartbeat ceases its palpitation, life stops.

"The power of a single Act continually repeated is great; even greater, the single Act of the Eternal God that has the virtue of doing everything with a single Act.
"Whoever lives in my Will finds himself already in this single Act. As the heart always palpitates in human nature and constitutes its life, so my Will palpitates continually in the depth of the soul, but with a single palpitation; and, as It palpitates, It gives it beauty, sanctity, strength, love, goodness, wisdom ...

"This palpitation encloses Heaven and earth; and, as the circulation of the blood is surrounded by life, it finds itself in the highest points and in the most extreme parts. Where this single Act, this palpitation of the soul, reigns completely, it has full vigour and is a continuous prodigy that only a God knows how to do. Therefore, new Heavens are unveiled in it, new abysses of graces, and surprising truths. If it is asked whence so much good comes to it, the soul would respond, united to the Sun, and together with the human palpitation and with the Act of the Eternal God: 
'I do one single thing; I do always the Will of God, and I live in It. This is my whole secret."

Christ offered himself for us


The sacrifices of animal victims which our forefathers were commanded to offer to God by the holy Trinity itself, the one God of the old and the new testaments, foreshadowed the most acceptable gift of all. This was the offering which in his compassion the only Son of God would make of himself in his human nature for our sake.

The Apostle teaches that Christ offered himself for us to God as a fragrant offering and sacrifice. He is the true God and the true high priest who for our sake entered once for all into the holy of holies, taking with him not the blood of bulls and goats but his own blood. This was foreshadowed by the high priest of old when each year he took blood and entered the holy of holies.

Christ is therefore the one who in himself alone embodied all that he knew to be necessary to achieve our redemption. He is at once priest and sacrifice, God and temple. He is the priest through whom we have been reconciled, the sacrifice by which we have been reconciled, the temple in which we have been reconciled, the God with whom we have been reconciled. He alone is priest, sacrifice and temple because he is all these things as God in the form of a servant; but he is not alone as God, for he is this with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the form of God.

Hold fast to this and never doubt it: the only-begotten Son, God the Word, becoming man offered himself for us to God as a fragrant offering and sacrifice. In the time of the old testament, patriarchs, prophets and priests sacrificed animals in his honour, and in honour of the Father and the Holy Spirit as well. Now in the time of the new testament the holy catholic Church throughout the world never ceases to offer the sacrifice of bread and wine, in faith and love, to him and to the Father and the Holy Spirit, with whom he shares one godhead.

Those animal sacrifices foreshadowed the flesh of Christ which he would offer for our sins, though himself without sin, and the blood which he would pour out for the forgiveness of our sins. In this sacrifice there is thanksgiving for, and commemoration of, the flesh of Christ that he offered for us, and the blood that the same God poured out for us. On this Saint Paul says in the Acts of the Apostles: Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock, in which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as bishops to rule the Church of God, which he won for himself by his blood.

Those sacrifices of old pointed in sign to what was to be given to us. In this sacrifice we see plainly what has already been given to us. Those sacrifices foretold the death of the Son of God for sinners. In this sacrifice he is proclaimed as already slain for sinners, as the Apostle testifies: Christ died for the wicked at a time when we were still powerless, and when we were enemies we were reconciled with God through the death of his Son.

The Infinite Value of the Hours of the Passion

According to the great spiritual theologian, Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P., "All the saints have lived until the end of their lives by the contemplation of the Passion." The writings of Luisa Piccarreta and others have opened a window on to the abyss of Our Lord's interior sufferings.
Concerning our own participation in the sufferings of Jesus, the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that "because in his incarnate divine person he has in some way united himself to every man, 'the possibility of being made partners, in a way known to God, in the paschal mystery' is offered to all men ... " (eee, 618). Through the Passion of Jesus, "suffering, a consequence of Original Sin, acquires a new meaning; it becomes a participation in the saving work of Jesus"(CCC, 1520).
Again and again, in his revelations to twentieth century victim souls such as Blessed Dina Belanger and the Servants of God Conchita Cabrera and Luisa Piccarreta, Jesus has complained of the ignorance and indifference of souls-even consecrated souls-before the sufferings of his Sacred Heart. Very few souls want to sympathize with me in my agony, He confided to Blessed Dina Belanger, a religious of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. In her spiritual diary, Blessed Dina noted that "very few souls, that is among all the souls in the world in general, want to sympathize with the agony endured by his Heart, that is, to console him through the most intimate union." (emphasis added)
In many private revelations approved by the Church in this century, Our Lord has begged for a loving JV contemplation of his interior sufferings. He told Conchita Cabrera:
I only remained on the Cross of Calvary for three hours, but on the interior Cross of My Heart, My whole life ... I wish that above all, there be honored the interior sufferings of My Heart, sufferings undergone from My Incarnation to the Cross and which are mystically prolonged in My Eucharist. These sufferings are still unsuspected by the world. None the less I declare to you that, from the first moment of my Incarnation, the Cross already planted in My Heart overburdened Me and the thorns penetrated it. The blow struck by the lance might have been some solace causing to gush from My Side a volcano of love and of suffering but I did not consent to that until after My death. I only receive ingratitude. That is why My Heart overflowing with tenderness will ever feel the thorns of the Cross. In heaven, as God, I cannot suffer. To find this Cross which above did not exist, I descended into this world and became man. As God-Man, I could suffer infinitely to pay the price of salvation of so many souls. During My life, I never desired anything except the Cross, and ever the Cross, wanting to show the world That which is the sole wealth and happiness on earth, the currency which will buy an eternal happiness.
Jesus asked Conchita to start Congregations for the primary purpose of venerating his interior sufferings:

In these houses, in this "oasis" will be honoured this ocean of interior sufferings, today known to but very few. There, they will take My thorns and with them pierce their own hearts. They will lighten the weight of the Cross which burdens My Heart, themselves becoming living Crosses. Their lives will remain wholly secluded in the interior of the Cross of My Heart, venerating, alleviating, making their own these interior sufferings which, for thirty-three years, never left Me for a single moment (emphasis added).
To Blessed Dina, Jesus described the frightful consequences of men's failure to contemplate the sorrows of his Sacred Heart. She wrote:

He let me see in spirit millions of souls rushing after Satan towards their eternal ruin. And he, the savior, was there, surrounded by a small number of faithful souls, suffering for these millions of sinners, but to no purpose. His Heart saw souls falling in countless numbers into hell. Seeing this, I said: "My Jesus, You accomplished the act of redemption to the full; what is wanting, then, given that so many souls are being lost?" He answered: It is because devout souls do not unite themselves sufficiently with my sufferings ... 1 entrust great secrets to souls who are willing to sympathize with me in my sufferings and console me in my agony (emphasis added).
Perhaps the simplest and most complete account of the interior sufferings of Jesus can be found in the writings of Luisa Piccarreta. From her teenage years, Luisa spent much of each day in loving contemplation of Our Lord's Passion. Around 1913, under obedience to her extraordinary confessor, Blessed Hannibal Di Francia, Luisa recorded Our Lord's revelations concerning his interior sufferings from Holy Thursday until his death on Good Friday. One day, Blessed Hannibal read one ofthe Hours of the Passion to his friend Pope St. Pius X. After listening for a while, the Holy Father interrupted the reading. "Father, this should be read kneeling," the Pope exclaimed; "It is Jesus who is speaking."
In her diary, Luisa recorded Our Lord's testimony concerning the special grace attached to the Hours of the Passion. Jesus told Luisa:
It is true that my saints have meditated my Passion and have understood how much 1 have suffered and have burst into tears of compassion; so much so as to feel themselves consumed for love of my pains, but not in such a continuous and always repeated way, nor with this order.      ~ (
Therefore 1 can say that you are the first to give Me this great and special pleasure, that of breaking down in yourself, hour by hour, my Life and that which 1 suffered. And 1 feel Myself so drawn that, hour by hour ... 1 do together with you that which you do. Know, though, that 1 will recompense you for it abundantly with new light and new graces; and even after your death, every time souls upon earth shall do these Hours of my Passion, L in Heaven, will dress you with ever new light and glory.
When Luisa asked Jesus what favour He would grant to souls who would contemplate his sufferings in the Hours of the Passion, He told her:
1 will also give them a soul for every word which they will recite if they will do them together with Me and with my same Will, because all the greater or lesser efficacy of these Hours of my Passion lies in the greater or lesser union which they have with Me. And by doing them with my Will, the creature hides itself in my Will; and with my Will in act, I can do all the good that 1 want, even with a single word. And this 1 will do every time that they will do them ... These Hours are the most precious of all, for they are none other than the repetition of what 1 did in the course of my mortal Life and of what 1 continue to do in the Most Blessed Sacrament. When 1 hear these Hours of my Passion, I hear my own voice and my own prayers. I see my Will in that soul who desires the good of all and who wants to make reparation for all, and I feel transported; whence, 1 take up my dwelling within her, so as to do within her that which she herself does. Oh, how I would love it if only one soul in every town were to make these Hours of my Passion! I would feel my own presence in each town, and my Justice - greatly disdained in these times - would be partly appeased.
According to St. Paul, "where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more" (Rmns 5:20). Thus, in this century, when the culture of death threatens to overwhelm the world completely, God has revealed his greatest graces by inviting us to live in continual communion with his interior sufferings. As He told Conchita:
It is a great honor for souls when the Father calls them to associate them with the Redemption; with the eo-redemption, uniting them with Me and Mary. .. The Holy Spirit will reign the day when My sacrifice of suffering will also reign: the Cross in hearts (emphasis added)."
